Company: OPUS
The blog is clear and
concise with good questions asked and concepts provided in his
reflections. I also liked the addition
of a brief overview of the Statements, which was what I was looking for in
learning about these companies.
I like the way Nick
answered some of his own questions. For
example, I have seen students ask “What is EBIT?” however have not answered
this. Like myself, Nick has also tried
to answer a lot of questions as part of this self learning exercise. This demonstrates to me the self motivated learner,
although not part of the assignment, as such, I think this provides additional
learning for the readers.
The overview of his company
is thorough and it is easy to understand what his Company does; as with his discussion
regarding the financials of the company to provide points of interest in
decision making.
As a point of interest, we
have similar companies that probably compete in the same market for tenders,
both being in construction in the UK, although we both were unable to find any
articles regarding this. Very good blog
to read as a good example of Assignment 1.

SPECTRIS
Jason’s
blog is very straight to the point and very well structured. The content is easy to follow and more
importantly, easy to understand. His review of the Company is well clear and
precise and is a great summary. He has
covered all the concepts and parameters of the Assignment very well and very
succinctly. I like the way he has
summarised the firms overall financial performance and outlook and his related Key
Concepts and questions are very appropriate.
Company: YUE
YUEN (HOLDINGS) LTD
This Blog is very thorough and I found it interesting and
engaging. Like the other 2 Blogs the
level of discussion was quite in depth which is what I like to read. He has demonstrated the ability to obtain
some learnings, discuss the financials and provided the information required of
the assignment – in particular KCQ as well as a good overview of the company. I was actually able to answer one of his
questions regarding the timeframe of the Annual Report as one was 15months not
the usual 12 month fiscal year. As I am
also doing ACCT19062 Issues in Financial Accounting, I was able to answer this
question (as clarified in the Australian Accounting Standards) and provide him
a direction of where to look for reasons why they covered 15 months in his
Financial Report. This is an engaging blog
for me as Sam discussed some good
points regarding his financials in his KCQ’s also.
